It's a New Age, Lets Raise the Wage!

History
The minimum wage is the lowest money employers can pay their employees. The minimum wage wage sometimes varies by state. The minimum wage was established by The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA). The original minimum wage was .25 cents an hour for about 20 percent of labor force. It has been adjusted 22 times since, most recently it was raised to 7.25 in 2009. Currently 21 states and District of Columbia has a higher minimum wage than the federal one. The highest minimum wage is Washington state with $9.38. The federal minimum wage is not to be increased with inflation but must be changed by congress. The last few decades the real value has decreased of the minimum wage. People earning minimum wage which about 1 and a half million people, are on the 60 percent poverty line meaning they earn 40 percent less than poverty levels. Most of these minimum wage owners are under 25 years old.
