Minnesota takes a stand!

The state of Minnesota implements the countries first minimum wage reform

1938

Federal victory!

It wasn't until 26 years after Minnesota that the federal government enforced a minimum wage. 

1939

First Federal minimum wage increase

President Truman increases the minimum wage from .25 to .3 per hour

1961

Minimum wage reaches dollar mark!

For First time in US history the minimum wage is at the $1 per hour mark and exceeds the $8 real value. 

1968

Peak!

President Johnson increases the minimum wage to $1.60 per hour which peaked the minimum wage at an all time high of $10.75.

1990

Major break

The continuous increase of the minimum wage takes a huge break and the real value drops to $6.82 even though increased to $3.80 per hour.

2009

Latest minimum wage increase

President Obama is the latest president to increase the minimum wage to $7.25 a real value of $7.80

2018

States take matter into their own hands

21 states and the District of Columbia implement higher min wage than the federal law.
